The Airbnb Turnover Cleaning Checklist Every Australian Host Needs

Busihive Team3 min read

For short-stay hosts, cleanliness is the review. Guests forgive a lot, but never a dirty space. The challenge is doing a full reset in the few hours between checkout and check-in — every single time.

Linen is the make-or-break. Strip and replace all bed linen and towels with a fresh, identical set so the next guest sees a hotel-grade finish. Keep two to three full sets per property so a turnover never waits on laundry.

Reset, don't just clean. A turnover returns the space to a known "perfect" state. Restock consumables (toilet paper, soap, coffee, tea), check that every remote, charger and appliance works, and reset furniture to the photos in your listing.

Hit the high-touch points. Door handles, light switches, taps, the kettle, the remote and bench tops should all be wiped and sanitised. These are what guests notice — and what protects your rating.

Do a guest's-eye walkthrough. Before you mark the property ready, walk in the front door as a guest would. Is there a smell? A hair in the bathroom? A smudge on the mirror? Those tiny things are exactly what end up in a review.

Why hosts use Busihive. Same-day turnarounds, linen change and restock built in, and vetted local pros who understand short-stay standards. Book recurring turnovers so your calendar and your cleaner stay perfectly in sync.
